Jamestown Chamber of Commerce E−Newsletter | Winter 2008

Night for...2008

We are doing things differently this year. The Chamber holds their annual fundraiser each August and in the past, we hand−picked the proceed recipient. This year, we’re asking local organizations to tell us why they should receive the funds. Our event is scheduled for Saturday, August 16 to be held at a location in Jamestown TBA.

Many of you are involved in local organizations and we encourage you to apply. The organization(s) chosen as the recipient(s) is expected to work with the Chamber to assist in event coordination including but not limited to ticket sales, soliciting donations, promotions, and event set−up/breakdown.

If your organization would like to be considered as the event’s recipient, submit a letter detailing what the funds would be used for (priority will be given for specific projects vs. general operating funds) and how your organization will help support the fundraiser. Please provide a copy of your annual budget, and if you are a non-profit, your tax ID number. Priority wil be given to Jamestown−based organizations.

Letter should be sent to Jamestown Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 35, Jamestown, RI 02835 and must be postmarked by Friday, March 28, 2008.

Visit the Chamber website for more information.

Board members serve a 3−year term. The Board meets monthly on the first Thursday of the month from 7:15 to 8:30 am. Board members set the Chamber’s agenda, plan out our monthly member events & activities, and serve as “ambassadors” to our membership.

The Chamber’s mission is "to preserve and improve the quality of life in Jamestown and create an atmosphere of goodwill between the business community and the residents of Jamestown". Our Board members are the points of contact for our members to ensure that our organization is meeting the needs and expectations of our membership.

If you would like to serve on the Chamber Board, please contact Peter Brockmann.
