The Chamber of Commerce is encouraging
members to write a letter to the Planning Board of Appeal about the
Jack’s Electric Building at 14 Clinton Street. Jack Brittain is
appealing the Commission’s decision to deny approval of modifications
made from the development plan.
Whatever your opinion, it is extremely important that
each of us let the Planning Commission know whether or not we support the
project. However this project will be resolved, the result will impact the
future of business in Jamestown. This is your opportunity to have input
into that future.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26 at 7 pm at the Jamestown Library
and is open to the public. We encourage you to submit a letter as soon as
possible to allow the Commission time to receive and review prior to the
hearing.

The Tall Ships Are Coming!
The Tall Ships
will be back again this summer from June 27
through July 1, with an estimated 60,000 visitors to our island alone. The
downtown area will be busy and this is a great opportunity to get your product
out to more people. Whether you have a storefront or not, you can set up a
“cart” at East Ferry but you must have a vendor’s license.
Contact Town Hall immediately to file a permit.
And don’t forget about Jamestown’s 350th! That is another great
time to sell your product from East Ferry. Permit information is available
at Town Hall.
The Trolleys Are Back!
The Jamestown Trolley Tour will
hit the road on Tuesday, July 3 and will continue each Tuesday during
the months of July and August. The tour starts at 10:30 am from the
Gateway Center in Newport, with a stop and additional departure from
East Ferry at 11 am. The tour will go throughout the island until
12:30 pm.
Passengers can return to Newport immediately by trolley or can spend
the afternoon in Jamestown and return later that day on the
Jamestown−Newport Ferry.
The tour is called “By Land & Sea” and tickets are
$25 per person. Tickets are available for purchase at the Gateway
Center and we are finalizing details for ticket sales here in
Jamestown.
